Turmeric – Nature’s Anti-Inflammatory.

Native to Southern India, turmeric (or Curcuma longa) is a close relative of the ginger plant. A rhizome, or underground stem, it’s ground into a bright yellow-orange spice and used extensively in Indian and Southeast Asian cooking. In recent years, it’s also become popular as a supplement for those wanting to reduce pain, improve digestion and fight disease.

Much of turmeric’s power as a superfood lies in the presence of its key compound, curcumin. A potent but natural anti-inflammatory agent, curcumin has been found to have incredible benefits for pain, swelling and stiffness. It’s therefore very popular in the management of arthritis.

Not only is curcumin a powerful antioxidant, it may also help existing antioxidants within the body perform more efficiently. This capacity to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation has researchers exploring turmeric’s capacity to help prevent and improve chronic health conditions such as Alzheimer’s, depression and cancer.

Note: Taking curcumin with piperine – found in our Turmeric & Pepper Capsules – can increase curcumin absorption by up to 2000%.

Amazing Health Benefits of Turmeric

A traditional Ayurvedic medicine and culinary spice, turmeric has been used for centuries to reduce pain, improve digestion, heal wounds and detoxify the body. Today, turmeric is celebrated for its incredible anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It’s widely used among arthritis sufferers, while a growing body of research points to its potential for the prevention and management of chronic disease. One of the most versatile and scientifically backed nutritional supplements on the market, turmeric is worth its weight in gold. Here are some of the amazing health benefits of turmeric.

Reduce disease risk

Turmeric contains the powerful anti-inflammatory compound, curcumin. As chronic inflammation is increasingly seen as a precursor to disease, it’s suggested turmeric consumption may help prevent diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s.

Relieve arthritis

Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties make it a firm friend of those with rheumatoid or osteoarthritis. A daily supplement may help to reduce pain, stiffness and swelling, improve mobility and enhance quality of life.

Lower cholesterol

Research suggests curcumin can help lower cholesterol. This combined with its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce oxidative stress may help lower the risk of heart disease.

Improve brain function

Turmeric has been shown to increase the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF plays an important role in cognitive function, and increased levels have benefits for memory, focus and the prevention of age-related degenerative brain diseases.

Ease depression

Chronic low-grade inflammation is believed to be a contributing factor in depression, as are low levels of BDNF. Turmeric addresses both these factors, and clinical trials show it may help in managing depression.

Boost your immunity

Curcumin is an antimicrobial that supports immunity by killing off bacteria, viruses and fungi. So, if you’re constantly struck down by colds, sore throat or the flu, it could be time to up your turmeric intake.

Improve digestion

If you’re bothered by bloating, gas or digestive discomfort, give turmeric a go. It’s shown promising results in the management of inflammatory bowel disease and initial studies indicate it may provide relief from IBS.

Enhance healing

With antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can be applied to minor cuts and burns to improve healing. Taken orally, it can assist with skin conditions such as psoriasis, and it can also be used as an acne face mask.

Aid weight loss

Struggling to lose weight or keep it off? Some initial human studies suggest turmeric may be beneficial for weight loss. Animal studies also indicate curcumin may reduce fat tissue growth and improve insulin sensitivity.

Control blood sugar

High blood sugar levels in diabetics can deplete energy and lead to complications. Studies show turmeric can help lower these levels. By reducing insulin resistance, it may also lower the odds of developing type 2 diabetes.

Promote liver health

Turmeric has been used for thousands of years to detoxify the body. Adding a supplement to your diet can help increase bile flow and promote a healthy liver.

Should I Take Turmeric?

While turmeric is best known as a natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever, it has a wide range of potential benefits for your health. Taken daily, a turmeric supplement may assist with the prevention, treatment or management of everything from poor digestion and IBS to type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and depression.

You might consider a turmeric supplement if you have:

  • Rheumatoid or osteoarthritis
  • Joint pain, stiffness or swelling
  • Joint pain, stiffness or swelling
  • Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • Depression or low mood
  • Poor memory or attention span

""No stiffness getting out of bed in the morning anymore!!"

Lisa S

“Since my teens I have included natural supplements in my diet. Later on in my early 20's I discovered Moringa Oleifera. But more recently Ashwagandha & the combination of adding Black Pepper to Turmeric intake. This combination to start my day is absolute rocket fuel. I dont like the taste normally of these earthy treasures. So ill happy swallow these suckers within an inch of their life. So what does it feel like? Amazing right now. But thats only due to my daily intake discipline. In the beginning there needs to be a building phase in the body. I found if I took considerable time off of it, there tended to be a drop in my baseline of health and having a good mental headspace. Being a taller guy, with athletic build & fast metabolism. For the morning I consume capsules consisting of x2 Moringa Leaf capsules+ x2 Turmeric & Black Pepper + x2 Ashwagandha. For the spring time I usually get hayfever so at night I have 1-2 moringa before I go to sleep. Since also doing this I have thrown out my antihistamine medication. I've been buying from MoringaProducts.com.au for years. The products are worth the investment. Thank you so much <3 <3 <3”
